According to studies, people spend a lot of money on health care, particularly on weight loss procedures. The biggest cause for weight gain is a sedentary lifestyle or lack of exercise. Yeah, we don’t have enough time to take care of our health and fitness in this busy environment.

But, thanks to the latest technologies, we can now track our everyday workouts on-the-go using the latest fitness bands. Yes, these Smart Activity Trackers help you monitor your steps, burned calories, and distance traveled.

Many Smart bands can track your sleep cycle and heart rate, suggesting healthy remedies.

GOQii Fitness Bands

Now we’ve got the GOQii Fitness bands, a set of fitness trackers from the California-based health technology company by the same name. However, unlike other workout bands, GOQii’s versions are distinctive and its trackers are designed for serious fitness enthusiasts.

Needless to mention, if you’re trying to really use a fitness tracker, this device makes a lot more sense than the Xiaomi Mi Band or the Honor Band, considering the price difference.

GOQii Fitness Band

GOQii Fitness Tracker offers an unmatched ecosystem with the band and the coaching is something no other product offers. Its significant sensor accuracy and the robustness of the companion app, the GOQii fitness tracker provides a decent fitness and metabolism tracking.

Design and Build Quality

GOQii Fitness Tracker looks like its counterpart GOQii Tracker (first generation) but there are some enhancements and refinements here and there in terms of build quality and performance, the overall standard of the design and features are good for the price.

The tracker device is made of good quality plastic, which feels sturdy and robust. The soft rubber band is very easy to wear across the wrists, without any discomfort on the skin. The strap is quite durable and easy to clean.

This band weighs only 20 g which makes it unnoticeable even though you wear it on your hand all the time.

Display

The GOQii band features a crisp OLED but the brightness levels are pretty low, compared to the other fitness trackers in this segment.

The display is sharp and vivid, with a decent evolution of colors. The texts appear sharp and look nice on the pitch-black background.

You have to hold down the display to turn the sleep mode on or off. This tells the band that you’re going to sleep, and it subsequently tracks the same.

Sensors

GOQii activity tracker comes with limited sensors like Heart rate monitor, step-distance-calorie, and a reasonably accurate sleep counter.

The Sensor measures the number of steps you’re taking throughout the day, however, the lack of advanced sensors for other activities is something of a drawback.

This fitness tracker is equipped with a dynamic heart rate monitor which is certainly not the best in the segment but provides decent metrics.

The data on your workout sessions are displayed on the GoQii App in a weekly or monthly tab so that you could have a bird’s eye view on whether you are improving or not.

We can’t really blame the GOQii Band for lack of sensors, given that it costs less than half of what the Fitbit surge does. What I would say, though, is that a 12-month membership costs more than Rs. 10,000.

However unfortunately human presence on the GOQii Band is not enough to justify the lack of advanced activity monitoring.

Miscellaneous

GOQii tracker comes along with a coaching subscription, they have 3 different subscription plans i.e: 3, 6, and 12 months respectively. You can choose your preferred subscription and accordingly place an order.

This fitness band can display notifications from your smartphones such as calls and texts like any other similar fitness tracker but the good point is that the vibration alert is pretty strong.

You can add reminders and alarms to your daily activities on the app so that you could be notified via vibrations

Daily logs or goals show up in the quick-lock tab on your Goqii app along with your daily habits, which are decided by you that can be anywhere from drinking a certain amount of water or walking some steps within a time frame.

Battery life

When a battery is low it is indicated on the band display which is a good thing and certainly an improvement over the first-gen band.

Goqii fitness tracker is powered by a 90mAh Li-Ion battery that can last up to 8 days on a single charge. The built-in USB plug fits in general USB chargers so you can charge it anywhere and anytime.

Verdict

The real reason for recommending the GOQii Band is the human coach that you get. It’s the tech equivalent of having a trainer and the human angle makes up for a lot of fitness functionality.

However, the lack of specialized sensors and advanced features means it is a very basic tracker that makes sense only for those who are starting out on a fitness program.

GOQii VITAL 2.0 Fitness band

GOQii recently launched an all-new fitness band GOQii Vital 2.0 which features heart rate monitoring along with blood pressure, step, sleep, and a calorie monitor.

If you are familiar with the Goqii ecosystem, they have got you covered with a personal coach, a health expert, and a doctor’s consultation on the fly for 3 months at least.

Design and Build quality

The GOQii Vital 2.0 fitness band is designed in California and looks similar in some aspects to the siblings of the low budget fitness tracker.

In terms of design and build quality the Goqii vital band is quite different than its predecessors, previously the band has to be removed from straps to charge the center core, however now the straps are attached to the core and can be pulled off from either side like a Lego.

The flexible strap is made of good quality rubber, and it is very lightweight and comfortable on the hands, however, the band doesn’t stand out in terms of looks when compared with its competitors like Mi band 4 or Honor band 5.

The band still cannot lay flat on the table because of the USB Airport connector, which doubles as a charging point and as a joint to secure the wrist straps.

Display

There are a couple of differences in the Goqii vital fitness band when compared to the early iterations of the fitness bands.

The prominent change that comes right at the top is the OLED color display. The third generation of the band has a color display and shows more real estate on the watch face in terms of fitness stats.

Intelligent backlight technology helps in substantial savings in the battery. The upfront single-button navigation allows you to comfortably navigate across the UI.

Raise to wake up feature makes its way into the band, although it’s on par at the point, this gesture has the mind of its own, sometimes it works perfectly and other times it just doesn’t.

Sensors

The heart rate sensor is extremely consistent and gives you a rough estimate of your body metabolism. There is an always-on option to use the heart rate sensor but at the expense of battery life.

The blood pressure monitor on the Goqii fitness band reads your systolic and diastolic blood pressure. However, you need to set the blood pressure range in the GOQii App to measure BP in the tracker.

To check blood pressure, you need to stay relaxed and calm for about a minute or so, this helps the BP tracking to be at a faster pace.

The data obtained from the app is relatively accurate when we tested with our BP measuring equipment.

There is no built-in GPS in Goqii vital 2.0 fitness band, rather it uses supported GPS on your smartphone to track and navigate the paths you’ve been moving along.

This fitness tracker also has standard sleep tracking options. Measurement of calories burned and steps taken are reliable and offer a decent accuracy consistently.

Miscellaneous

Unlike its predecessor, Goqii vital 2.0 fitness band is waterproof up to 5atm, making it accessible outdoors without having to think about the weather.

The Goqii has added some great stress buster games into the app, which are quite helpful and would reduce your stress immediately upon playing.

The Goqii fitness band displays the message and call notifications in real-time, not only from system apps but also from third-party apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

You have the novelty to set up custom alarms, time and distance, sedentary remainders under display settings in the app

Goqii is all about the fitness ecosystem, not just the band. The Karma points concept is great, like you walk for your health well as you do it raise points to donate for various charity organizations.

You can also book a phone consultation with the Goqii doctors to get a basic health risk assessment check-up.

There is a health store section in the Goqii app where you can buy everything and anything related to fitness from food to merchandise.

The GoQii code is a feature that tells you to work on your daily goals by constantly poking you to know your stats, this feature is a definite stand out if you are serious about your fitness.

Battery life

The Goqii vital 2.0 fitness band is powered by a Li-ion battery that can last up to 10 days on a single charge and will take about 2 hours to charge from empty to 100 percent.

The tracker module comes with a built-in USB port and the device can be charged directly from a power source such as a power bank or a laptop without requiring a separate charger.

Verdict

GOQii’s strength has been the ecosystem that its devices come with. With the addition of new features like blood pressure and a heart monitor on the band as well as few features in the ecosystem, GOQii’s Vital is definitely an effective device to go for, if you aim to get more than just data out of your fitness band.

With the device, you get free 3 months of subscription for the ecosystem. You can get your hands on this device at a price of Rs. 2,999.
